Special Dobermans with Special Needs

Although the majority of our dogs are adoptable, there are times a dog may need a long term foster home. Whether the dog has medical needs or behavioral needs, our rescue and volunteers commit to helping these dogs for their lifetime and we care for them as if they were our own.

Introducing one of the most important programs for Doberman Rescue League, our sponsorship program! Many people are not in a position to foster an animal, but would still like to help. A great way to do this is to sponsor an individual dog with special needs.

Special needs dogs are:

  • dogs that have had major medical procedures such as surgeries or heartworm treatment
  • dogs with the need for special medications or individualized behavior modification. For our behavioral dogs, we may need the help of trainers and behaviorists to insure structure and safety in their current living situation.
  • dogs who are in forever foster situations (hospice, much older dogs or dogs with other conditions that significantly reduce the possibility of adoption).

This program allows you to help support one of these dogs through a one time monetary donation or a regularly scheduled monthly donation right from that dog's web page.

What Do You Get Out of Sponsoring?

You may not be adopting or fostering but you still receive the joy of knowing you helped provide care for the animal(s) you choose to sponsor. Because of generous people like you, the Doberman Rescue League can continue to save animals that may otherwise be euthanized, neglected, or abused. Upon your request, we are happy to send you any updates we receive on the animals you sponsor so you can learn about your impact firsthand or you can watch our website and social media pages for updates!

We hope you become a special friend to one of our special dogs and help us keep them happy & healthy for as long as they are in need.

*Sponsorships for an individual special needs dog will be applied to the expenses of that individual dog. Any excess donation to an individual dog's special needs will be utilized for another special needs dog unless we are otherwise notified.
