Description:
05/04/26. Hi folks—JOE here, checking in to let you know I’m still looking for my forever home.
I was found on a busy highway by a kind lady who kept me for three weeks. I did great with her small dog and cat, but unfortunately she wasn’t able to keep me.
I’m a sweet, gentle, easygoing old soul. I get along well with other dogs and cats, and I do best with older children. My fosters say I’m a lazy couch potato—until food is involved, then I get very excited.
I love relaxing on the couch, going for long walks, and anything to do with snacks. I know a few basic commands and I’m working on heel and stay (especially when treats are on the line).
As wonderful as my fosters are, they won’t be able to keep me long-term—they’re leaving Florida soon for a new job. If you could do me a favor and share my post so I can find my forever family, I’d really appreciate it.
I’m finishing up my heartworm treatment and will be neutered afterward.
So if you’re looking for a loyal new best friend to watch Netflix (or Wheel of Fortune) with, just ask for JOE!

11/25/25 6-year-old Joe was found wandering alone on a busy street when a kind woman found him and took him in. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, she was unable to keep him, but he got along wonderfully with her cat and small dog. Joe is super sweet, eager to please, and has definitely had some training. He likes dogs, cats, and is good with children, making him another dobercorn. Lucky is the family that adopts this special boy, as he will surely fill their home with love and gratitude. Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). These dogs will always be supported by DRL. We welcome financial support for these dogs. Here are links to foster and adoption applications for those dogs who need a foster home or adoptive home.
