6/15/23  OUR Sophie is doing much better than the dog we first got in with a injured leg and infection.  Her foster has some commitments coming up and will not be able to keep her so we are looking for a new foster or adopter.  Her foster wrote a few things about her below.  She might be better off as the only girl in the home as she seems to enjoy her people all to herself.                      Sophie is a beautiful, sweet 4 year old, most likely European Dobie girl who absolutely loves affection from "her person"!  She is a very, calm, smart girl who likes to play indoor fetch, tug of war, loves to chew on her ropes and toys, will learn just about anything for treats, and loves her walks!

She is leash trained and is non-reactive to other dogs as long as there is some distance apart,  (my 8 year old can walk her) and is house trained.  Sophie rarely barks, and is quite calm. Sophie knows commands such as "sit" "paw, "other paw" "stay" "cage" and "lay down".  She definitely loves to please her person by practicing these for treats.  She was extremely timid from whatever she went through before, but now Miss Sophie has been socialized around children, and people without any reactive behavior like before. But I would slowly introduce people to Sophie in a new setting and never have anyone run up to pet her. Always let Sophie go to them and smell their hands under her head. Even though she is comfortable now and is so sweet, in a new setting, she may be afraid at first. Sophie will absolutely love and attach to "her person or people". I think she favors females, but you never know.   She will thrive with someone who works from home or is retired and can spend time with her. She is calm and will do best in a calm setting, so I would recommend older children, if any. Sophie's favorite thing to do is snuggle with her person and eat! Sophie will need strict food guidelines set because she was 30 pounds overweight and has lost it all now. However Sophie will still scavange for food on walks or when you arent looking at home, she is improving but will need a little more training for this.  She will eat anything she can. So a strict regimen is best with no table scraps or she may jump on that table. Hahahaaha. So 2 meals a day, and she eats frozen watermelon, carrots, apples, bananas or low cal treats between meals. She absolutely loves human touch and affection. She will even sit on your feet just to be next to you! Lol Depsite her leg Sophie functions as a normal dog. She walks, runs, goes up and down stairs, can jump and can stand on her hind legs! Sophie is up to date on her heartworm and flea prevention and is the sweetest dobie ever!
